Me Tū-ā-Uru
Illustration suite and two comics for Vic Uni environmental research programme.
Creative Director: Charlie Godinet
Copywriter: Scott Moyes
Me Tū-ā-Uru is an Action Plan for a Flourishing and Abundant Environment, developed by leading Māori researchers and practitioners through Victoria University. It calls for shared authority of Aotearoa’s special places to ensure a flourishing environment for future generations. To support this important kaupapa, I created a suite of four key illustrations that used rivers as metaphors for the restoration process. The artworks were all given a subtle animation treatment for use across social media.
Two comics were also commissioned to help and spread awareness of Me Tū-ā-Uru, and their underpinning ideology. The first comic, A Deeper Connection, was an overview about the framework. The second comic, Healing the Land to Heal the People, focused on the story on the remediation process of the Whakatane Sawmill - an example of the Me Tū-ā-Uru framework in action.
